PMGS conference on Organizational Project Management Maturity on June 17, 2010—a great success!

PMGS Inc. A worldwide project management training and consulting services expert is proud to announced the success of its conference on evaluating organizational project management maturity. On June 17th, many project, program and portfolio managers took part in this presentation and benefited from the detailed presentation of the PMGS approach, a real case study, and quality discussions with PMGS experts.

Montreal (QC), CANADA (http://www.pmgsgroup.com) June 18th, 2010 – For many years PMGS has been positioned as leader in project management training and consulting services. The conference on “evaluating organizational project management maturity” is in line with the company strategy of offering avant-garde content to the project management community. Enthusiasm for the conference successfully indicates interest in the subject of maturity and the relevancy of the PMGS’s approach.

During the conference, PMGS speakers presented the basis of organizational project management maturity and a methodological evaluation. PMGS also presented a real case study of an evaluation performed for one of their worldwide clients. With this conference, PMGS was able to present their approach (tools and methodology) OPMCAP® (Organizational Project Management – Capability Assessment Process).

Why Organizational Project Management Maturity?
One of the business challenges organizations are facing today is to be able to keep their team focused on strategic objectives and their ability to transform these objectives in expected results. Project management is a natural way to help organizations deliver changes.

“Many organizations are convinced to efficiently manage their project. However, a closer look shows that the organizational project management culture is not or very few spread within the company and that the structure of the organization itself is not adapted” Frederick H. Stoltz, a PMGS Consultant and conference speaker.

The organizational project management capability assessment allows organizations to measure their actual level of project management maturity, and deduce an action plan to help the organization reach the level in line with achieving their objectives. For PMGS, organizational project management means systematically managing projects, programs and portfolios in line with organization strategic objectives.

OPMCAP®, PMGS’s approach for Organizational project management maturity
Based on PMI® standards and developed by PMGS, OPMCAP® is a way to evaluate the maturity of project management in an organization. This approach combines methodology and tools with the objective of:

  • Presenting a constructive approach based on improvements
  • Considering both internal and external (for clients) projects
  • Being mindful of the entire project life cycle including sales and project selection phases
  • Easing communication of the results to the target audience

Positives reactions!
More than 80% of the participants stated the conference was very interesting, and that they would recommend it. Among the comments on the approach itself: “An attractive and very interesting approach which allows the use of a tool and methodology more understandable than OPM3” Director, Portfolio management – Banking Industry. Participants also requested that more time be spent on the case study, which will be adopted for the second presentation of this conference on September 23rd, 2010.
