The PMI®’s PMP® (Project Management Professional) certification recognizes a demonstrated understanding of knowledge areas, processes and skills required to lead and direct project teams to deliver results within the constraints of budget, time and scope.

By the end of Q2 2010, there were over 371,000 certified PMP®’s in the world. PMGS contributed to certify nearly 3,000 people in France and Europe in all sectors

Section 1Profile

The PMP ® certification is aimed at Project Management experts who may also have led multi-functional teams to enable them to deliver projects within constraints of time, budget and scope.

Section 2Prerequisites

  • Project Management Education: 35 hours
  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree, global equivalent or higher degree
    • High school diploma, Associate’s degree, or the global equivalent.
  • Professional Project Management Work Experience:
    • With a Bachelor’s degree or global equivalent within the last eight years, a minimum of three non-overlapping years of professional experience during which at least 4,500 hours were spent leading and directing project tasks
    • With a high school diploma or global equivalent within the last eight years a minimum of three non-overlapping years of professional experience during which at least 7,500 hours were spent leading and directing project tasks

Section 3PMGS’s Service Offering

Through its training programs, PMGS offers support for validation and monitoring of the participant’s online PMI® registration profile through to the PMP® exam.

PMGS has developed three training programs to acquire skills and prepare for the certification:

Section 4Steps to certification

  • Create a profile and complete an online application on the PMI ® website : www.pmi.org
  • Following the PMI’s approval of the candidate’s profile, the PMI sends a letter of eligibility allowing the candidate to take the PMP® exam. The candidate is then eligible to take the exam for a period of 1 year.
  • The candidate schedules the desired date of examination via the firm Prometric: www.prometric.com
  • On the previously scheduled date, the candidate takes and passes the computerized test.

Section 5Exam Information

The examination period is maximum 4 hours during which 400 multiple-choice questions must be answered.

Section 6Maintain certification

To maintain the PMP® certification, to remain in “good standings”, individuals must acquire 60 PDUs (Professional Development Units) during a three year cycle.
